This policy explains when you get your money back, and what happens if we ever have to switch the lights off. It forms part of our Terms of Service. There is deliberately no section on cancelling a subscription — we do not sell any: every purchase is one-off and simply expires.
We have written it to be honest in both directions: it says plainly when we will refund you, and equally plainly when we will not.
If you are a consumer buying online, the law gives you 14 days from the day the contract is concluded to withdraw from it without giving a reason and without penalty.
Digital content is different from a parcel: you cannot send it back once you have it. The law therefore allows you to trade the 14-day right for immediate access — but only with your express consent and your acknowledgement that the right is lost.
That consent is collected at checkout, which is operated by Stripe as merchant of record: by completing the purchase you request that the paid material is made available to you immediately, and you acknowledge that your right of withdrawal ends once access is granted. Your access does start immediately — that is the point of the trade.
If that consent was not properly put to you, the 14-day right survives, and we will honour it: tell us within 14 days of the purchase and you will receive a full refund. We would rather refund one purchase too many than argue about a formality.
Send us any clear statement that you are withdrawing, before the 14 days are up. A message through our support form is enough — you do not need a special form or a particular wording. You may also write to us at the postal address in our Terms of Service.
If you prefer a form, you can copy this one. Using it is optional:

To English Certificate Preparation (via the support form at englishcertprep.com/support):
I hereby give notice that I withdraw from my contract for the supply of the following digital content: ______________________
Ordered on: ______________________
Name of consumer: ______________________
Address of consumer: ______________________
Email address used for the order: ______________________
Date: ______________________
We will confirm receipt without delay and refund you within 14 days, using the same payment method you used to pay, unless you agree otherwise. The refund costs you nothing.
Once you have taken instant access, we are not obliged to refund you simply because you changed your mind or did not study as much as you planned. Please buy the shortest option first if you are unsure — and use the free material before you pay anything, which is exactly what it is there for.
That said, we will refund you in these situations:
Beyond those, we may still refund as a gesture of goodwill. We are a small operation and would rather have a fair reputation than an extra few hundred crowns. Ask, and explain the situation.
Every purchase is a one-off payment for a fixed period of access. It ends on its expiry date, nothing further is ever charged, and we never store an authority to charge you again. There is no subscription, no renewal, and therefore nothing you need to cancel.
A period expiring is not a refund event: you received the access you paid for. If you want to continue, you simply buy again — and if you buy while a period is still running, the new one starts when the current one ends, so no paid days are lost.
We intend to keep the service running. But if we ever have to stop — for any reason, including that it is no longer viable to operate:
We want to be direct about this, because some services are not. Money you paid for access you never got is yours, not ours. No term in our agreement could change that even if we wanted it to, and we do not.
To be equally direct in the other direction, we do not refund for:
None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer, which we cannot and do not try to exclude.
Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, usually within a few working days of us approving them, and always within 14 days. Your bank may take a little longer to show it. We refund the amount you paid, including VAT, and we do not charge a handling fee.
Because Stripe is the merchant of record for your purchase, Stripe can in some cases also refund you directly — for up to 60 days after the purchase, for example if a query you raise about the charge is not answered promptly. Either way the money returns to the payment method you used.
On your bank statement the purchase appears under Link, Stripe’s consumer payment brand — for example as “LINK.COM*” — rather than our own name. If you see a charge you do not recognise, it may well be us: please check your receipt from Stripe, or email us, before contacting your bank.
We can almost always sort a billing problem out the same week, whereas a chargeback takes months and costs a fee even when everyone acted in good faith. If a chargeback is raised, we may suspend the account while it is being resolved, and the payment provider will be given the record of your purchase and the terms you accepted at checkout.
Tell us why — a real person will look at it again. If we still cannot agree, you can take the matter to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority free of charge, as described in the complaints clause of our Terms of Service. Going that route does not stop you from going to court.
