Listen and complete each sentence with a word or short phrase from the recording.
A single speaker on a topic, with sentences to complete in their own words. This is the writing-under-listening part, and at C1 the vocabulary asked for is precise — often a technical or slightly unusual term that the speaker states clearly and once.
The sentences map the talk in order, so read them first and predict the word class each gap needs. The answer is generally the exact word from the recording; a paraphrase of your own that fits the sentence will usually not be accepted, because the point is that you caught the term.
Yes — write what the speaker said rather than a synonym. Spelling is marked, and the surrounding sentence is fixed, so an answer that needs the sentence reworded to make sense is wrong.
Leave it and keep pace with the sentences — falling behind costs several answers, not one. The second play exists for exactly this, and the gaps run in the recording's order, so it is easy to rejoin.
