Match each statement to the right person or section of the text.
A set of statements to match against sections of a text, or against several short texts. It is a scanning task under time pressure, and it is placed where it is on purpose — near the end of the paper, when concentration is thinnest.
Read the questions first here, unlike the other reading parts, because you are looking for specific information rather than building an understanding of the whole. Expect paraphrase: the question will not use the text's words, and if it does, that is often the wrong section. And watch the sections that answer two questions — the same paragraph frequently supplies more than one match, so a section already used is not disqualified.
At B2 the statements point at reasonably concrete things — an experience someone had, a piece of advice they give, a change they made. Scanning for the topic gets you close, and then it is a matter of checking which section actually says it rather than merely mentioning it.
Yes. Do not rule out a section because you have already used it — the task is built so that some sections carry several of the answers and others carry none.
Generally not, for this part. Skim it for the shape of each section, then work question by question. Reading it closely first costs more time than it saves, and this is the part where time runs out.
